Frequently Asked Questions

Bathtub Inserts vs Refinishing

When you compare the two, refinishing clearly comes out on top. Bathtub inserts are typically made from thin plastic materials that can look artificial, crack over time, and are limited in the surfaces they can be installed over.

They’re also significantly more expensive—often costing up to eight times more than professional refinishing.

Another common issue with inserts is seal failure. When water gets behind the liner, it can lead to mold growth, soft or “spongy” areas, and serious hidden damage that’s costly to fix.

On top of that, many insert manufacturers won’t honor a warranty unless you also purchase a full wall system, which can add thousands of dollars to the project.

Refinishing, on the other hand, uses advanced coatings that chemically bond to your existing tub surface. The result is a durable, long-lasting finish that performs just as well as an insert—at a fraction of the cost.

What Kind of Repair Can You Do?

Most homeowners are surprised by how much we can restore. We regularly repair cracks, chips, holes, rust damage, scratches, dull or worn areas, pitting, discoloration, knife marks, and burn damage—bringing surfaces back to a like-new appearance.

How Long Does it Take?

The time required varies based on the surface type, the amount of prep work, and any repairs needed.

Most bathtub refinishing projects are completed in about five hours, while larger or more detailed surfaces—such as custom kitchen countertops—may take closer to eight hours.

We’re happy to walk you through the timeline. Just give us a call and answer a few quick questions, and we can provide a more accurate estimate.

After the work is complete, bathtubs are typically ready for use within 24 hours. For best results, however, we recommend allowing 48 hours for full curing and maximum durability.

Are There Any Offensive Fumes?

Refinishing does produce an odor, but we take extensive precautions to control them. Our advanced ventilation system actively removes dust and odors and exhausts them safely outside throughout the entire process.

Unfortunately, some companies rely on nothing more than a box fan in a window, which offers minimal protection. We believe proper ventilation isn’t optional—it’s essential.

Will My Bathtub Look Painted?

No—your bathtub will not have brush strokes, roller marks, or drips.

We apply the topcoat using professional spray equipment that creates a smooth, factory-like, high-gloss finish. The result looks like a brand-new surface, not a painted one—all backed by our lifetime written warranty.

What Colors Are Available?

Refinishing gives you access to all standard colors, along with virtually unlimited custom color options. We also offer specialty finishes, including stone- and granite-inspired looks.
